Specialized in History of Japanese Art, History of Medieval Pictures. Works: 『室町王権と絵画 初期土佐派研究』(京都大学学術出版会 2004),『室町絵巻の魔力 再生と創造の中世』(吉川弘文館 2008).

Edvard Munch, expected 150th anniversary of his birth in 2013, left us lots of works including “The Scream”, his masterpiece. The lecturer helps us to understand the art of Munch through manysided consideration on his character and works.

Translator. Translation to Norwegian from Japanese:『バトル・ロワイアル』(高見広春著 太田出版 1999) 『走ることについて語るときに僕の語ること』(村上春樹著 文藝春秋 2007).

The most important mission of translator is to keep the culture behind the original works. How could we translate the culture only exists in Japan into Norwegian or other languages? For example, Japanese vocabularies, such as SENPAI, IZAKAYA, SHOCHU are much difficult to translate into Norwegian. The lecturer talks about the problems of transmission of culture by the language.
